After the turn of the year, the DFB Cup enters its hot phase. However, the pairings for the quarter-finals will be drawn in 2024. Who will VfB Stuttgart face? Will 1. FC Köln get another home game? And who has to face defending champion Bayer Leverkusen?
sport.de accompanies the drawing this Sunday, December 15th, from 3:45 p.m here in detail Live ticker.
+++ It’s starting soon +++
The balls should roll at 3:45 p.m.
+++ BVB and FC Bayern already eliminated +++
The DFB Cup has its own laws, that much became clear again this season. After Borussia Dortmund had already said goodbye in the second round, FC Bayern were also eliminated in the round of 16.
After the 0-1 home defeat against last year’s winners Bayer Leverkusen, the record champions once again have no say when the DFB Cup is awarded in Berlin on May 24th. The Munich team last reached the final in 2020. At that time, Leverkusen was beaten 4-2.
+++ This is how the DFB Cup draw is drawn +++
The remaining teams are all in a draw pot. Any team can face any other club. The team drawn first receives home advantage. Clubs below the 2nd Bundesliga always play in their own stadium as long as they do not meet another amateur club.
Arminia Bielefeld, another club from the 3rd league, will be represented in the quarter-finals and will definitely have a home game.
