The province of South Holland reports the leak from the application procedure for mayor: this is how it came through Algemeen Dagblad it became public that Esmah Lahlah (Member of Parliament GroenLinks-PvdA) wanted to become mayor of Delft. The obligation of confidentiality has therefore been violated, King’s Commissioner Wouter Kolff said on Wednesday on X.

“This violation is unacceptable and constitutes a criminal offense. It is up to the National Criminal Investigation Department to investigate this further,” says Kolff. Leaking information from a confidential procedure is punishable by up to one year in prison.

At the end of October, the obligation of confidentiality was also violated when Esmah Lahlah applied for mayor in Tilburg. It Brabants Dagblad would then have seen her application letter. The province of North Brabant and the municipality of Tilburg also reported the leak.

The GroenLinks-PvdA party leadership is said to have been unaware of Lahlah’s application in Tilburg. New party leader Jesse Klaver said on Monday A.D to have been aware of her application in Delft. But “she will stay with us in The Hague this entire period,” Klaver responded to the news.
