Phil “The Power” Taylor pulls the plug! The living darts legend announced the final farewell to the sports stage on Tuesday. The 64-year-old Englishman officially explained his end of his career in a video message.

“Hello people, Phil ‘The Power’ Taylor here. I hereby officially announce that I will stop playing darts,” the 14-time PDC world champion opened his statement.

“If someone comes and wants to see me: I will no longer play darts. You can meet, talk to me, but I will no longer play darts. I just wanted to let you know so that you are not disappointed,” said Taylor.

Taylor’s last professional match was the World Cup final

The 64-year-old played his last match on the PDC professional tour in January 2018. At that time he lost 2: 7 in the sentences in the final of the World Championship.

In the years after, however, he was still on the oche regularly and played numerous tournaments on the senior tour and exhibition matches. But that is now finally over.

Darts legend remains in public

What Taylor is planning next in his life is not yet clear. However, he indicated that he did not want to retreat from the public.

“While a chapter is closing, a new one opens. This transition opens up new opportunities to discover things and get involved in various ways in sport,” wrote “The Power”, who announced that he wanted to keep his fans up to date with his future plans.
