Between 1979 and 1980 The Police went on a world tour for the first time. The film “The Police: Around The World Restored & Expanded” was also made on the tour, which took the band to all continents.
The documentary takes a look behind the scenes and documents the beginnings of the trio and its rise. The Police: Around The World Restored & Expanded combines live footage with personal insights. The film accompanies Sting, Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland in Japan, Hong Kong, Australia, India, Egypt, Greece, France, South America and the United States and tries to capture everyday life away from the stage.
The film was first released in 1982, back then on VHS and Laserdisc. Soon it will also be available on DVD and Blu-ray for the first time. For the occasion, the visuals have been restored and the audio has been remastered. The “Documentary” contains four bonus songs.
The Police: Around The World Restored & Expanded also includes unreleased live recordings. On the tour, The Police performed songs from their first two albums, including “Walking On The Moon”, “Message In A Bottle”, “So Lonely” and “Roxanne”. With these singles, the band celebrated their first chart successes in Great Britain at the time. The new release will appear on May 20th.
