The player tore up the SM award check – Posted videos on social media

The Finnish Tennis Federation banned the player from competition.

The disciplinary committee of the Finnish Tennis Association has issued a one-week suspension to the tennis player from the events of the championships.

Ella Haavisto and Clarissa Blomqvist played in the women’s singles WC final on July 3. Haavisto won the match 6–0, 4–6, 6–4.

According to the association, at the award ceremony after the game, the player who played in the final tore up the award check he received on the field and posted videos of it on his Instagram account. Tennis Liitto confirmed to MTV Urheilu player who lost the final Blomqvist.

The disciplinary board stated in its decision that the player has acted in an unsportsmanlike manner and against the association’s disciplinary rules. The player was banned from competition for a week, which started on 13.7. and ends on 23.7. at 23:59.

The winner of the match received 2,000 euros, the loser received 1,000 euros.
