KooKoo rolled over the Pelicans.

Sami Kapanen saw his team’s crushing defeat. Tomi Natri / AOP

– It wasn’t our night.

Thus Sami Kapanen started his part at the press conference of the Pelicans–KooKoo match.

The Pelicans’ four-game playoff run came to a bitter end. KooKoo left the hosts clean and had a five-goal night.

– We gave way too much, Kapanen summed up.

– We know the opponent’s strengths, like the entire League, but it is really difficult to take them away. Today we were not ready for the amount of work it requires.

KooKoo scored three goals in the second period and practically wrapped up the match.

– The opponent was very good today and came actively, with good movement right from the start, Kapanen characterized.

– At no point today did I really get into that emotional state. It is of course disappointing for me.

Kapanen saw his team lose starts and struggles, among other things.

– We couldn’t match the opponent’s intensity and willingness to fight. That way, the numbers were pretty clear.

“Very satisfied”

KooKoo leveled the series. Tomi Natri / AOP

KooKoo started the match in 1:06 Casimir Jürgens after losing the puck.

– The first goal was important. That goal mattered, KooKoo coach Joko Myrrä would say

– The best second set of the playoff series was played so far. I am very satisfied with that.

KooKoo has only allowed one hit in two games and about 133 minutes in the series. Eetu Randelin has snapped 40 pucks.

– If the score goes to zero, then the goalkeeper and the defense have succeeded – but there was a place and a post for the home team.

The series continues in Kouvola on Thursday.
