The path of the DFB-Elf to the EM final

The German women’s national team lost the European Championship final against England. Disappointment yes, but also joy about the way there.

There couldn’t have been more drama than in this final of the European Women’s Football Championship in London. Because the German team had to take a few hits right away.

Only the failure of top scorer Alex Popp a few minutes before kick-off (read more about this here). Then the deficit against England. And finally, the hosts’ winner in extra time.

While the “Three Lionesses” celebrated their first European Championship title in their history, the silver medal remained for the team of national coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg. But the journey to get there was spectacular. Thrilling games, goal festivals – it was a tournament that was fun from a German perspective.

How the DFB-Elf made it into the final, with the most memorable moments, can be seen in the slideshow above or here.
