The Parliament knocks down the Canadian road plan and the question of trust

  • Junts votes against the two proposals despite the fact that it invoked the mechanism to measure the support of the ‘president’ in Parliament

Yes today Jordi Puignero he is not ‘vice president’ of the Government it is because he hid the ‘president’ Pere Aragones that Junts would ask him to undergo a question of confidence in the general policy debate and, the next day, he was fired. However, this Friday the majority of Parliament has voted against this proposal that opened the channel to the Executiu. Even Junts, who was the one who invoked the mechanism, has pressed the ‘no’ button. But if Aragonès may be satisfied with this result, he cannot be satisfied with the fact that ERC has been left alone with the ‘commons’ defending a clarity agreement inspired by the Canadian route that has run into the rejection of the majority of the House.

The postconvergents have already warned in advance that they did not see the Aragonès proposal with good eyes because it means considering 1-O over. Neither did the PSC, which warned that it was a path that does not “resolve” nothing because what must be done is “vote an agreement”. The only ones to pick up the gauntlet to the ‘president’ proposal were the ‘comuns’ of Jessica Albiachwho have remembered that it is a road that they already defended five years ago, despite the fact that at that time it was covered by the Republicans as a “last screen”.

The text on the issue of trust has presented the PP with the aim of claiming that the Government has remained “no parliamentary majority” and that, therefore, Aragonès should submit to this mechanism within a month to show what support it has. But he has only obtained three affirmative votes – his own – compared to 114 against – including those of Junts – and 16 abstentions.

Where the two pro-independence parties of the Government have voted together is in the defense of the right to self-determination and of legacy of 1-O. Before the start of the last day of the debate, ERC announced that it would support the proposals presented by Junts in this area.
