The parents of Haley (18), one month after a horrific collision with an e-scooter: “We have lost our future. Our daughter was the ray of sunshine”

One month ago she unsuspectingly rode an e-scooter just outside Mechelen. But suddenly there was a car that was driving way too fast: Haley Cuypers (18) did not survive the collision. Now her parents testify about their daughter who will never again teasingly ask them if they like her. But also about their feelings about the suicide of the 36-year-old driver after the accident: “At no time did he take responsibility. Not when he drank his first pint, not when he mowed my daughter off the road and not when he committed suicide.”
