The Police review the material found in the room of Anastasia and Alexandra, who just a week ago informed the school that they would not go on the end-of-year trip
Anastasia and Alexandra, the 12-year-old Russian twins from Oviedo who died on Friday after jumping out of a window of their building, They did not leave any suicide note but the idea of taking their own life was very present in their day to day.
That is, at least, what can be deduced from the material found at his home and which is now being investigated by the National Police. The agents try to shed some light on the tragic event in which the two sisters died, described as good students, students integrated smoothly in their school, with good friends, two totally normal tweens.
Sources close to the investigation indicated that for the moment no suicide note, no farewell letter, has been discovered. On the other hand, they point out, in the notebooks that are now being carefully reviewed, there appear frequent references to suicide. The twins wrote about taking their own lives quite regularly, it was an idea that, somehow, they were obsessedas deduced from this manuscript material.
The sources consulted by this newspaper could not confirm, however, other data published by the newspaper ‘El Mundo’ in which they speak of the discovery of drawings related to the same theme in those same notebooks. According to these sources, the drawings would correspond to one of the two twins, who would be the one who would show more interest in the suicide theme.
All these clues reinforce the idea that Anastasia and Alexandra had been planning to take their own lives for some time. Other data known yesterday also seems to be in the same vein. The twins were in the sixth grade and next week – Tuesday – they had the end-of-year trip and the end of the primary cycle. It was a multi-day excursion to Madrid, an important event for the students, but the twins told the center just a week ago that they would not make the trip.
Despite the deep pain that has hit the educational community of the public school of La Ería, the center has decided to maintain the study trip, and this has already been communicated to the families, to try to lift the spirits of the students and keep them away , as far as possible, the impact of the tragedy.
In the environment of the twins Anastasia and Alexandra, mourning, pain and anger grows due to a tragedy that no one could have foreseen. Sources close to the family have indicated that His parents, Igor and Olga, he is still admitted to the Central University Hospital of Asturias, have not even begun to understand what has happened. Several friends tried unsuccessfully to wrap them up in the hospital facilities where the health personnel told them that they were already accompanied and safe. Throughout Saturday too other expressions of regret and support for the families were reproduced. The Archbishop of Oviedo himself, who officiated this Saturday afternoon at a confirmation ceremony for adults, spoke of the Russian twins on Facetos street: “They mysteriously fell from the sixth floor in a flight contrary to hope. In the most intimate environment, that of the friends of the Russian twins, throughout the afternoon of Saturday they were depositing various objects in the portal number 47 of Facetos street where the two girls lived. The ‘altar’ includes several candles, a branch cut from a tree and two red hearts supported on sticks and tied with a bow. They have also left a book, ‘Magic of a summer night’, a fantastic genre novel by the popular writer of children’s and youth literature Maite Carranza who mixes a fairy tale with that of a young woman’s stay in Dublin forced to impersonate her sister.
In the portal the images of mourning continued throughout the afternoon. A group of young people, one of her a classmate of the twins, came to put more candles. A Russian woman prayed in front and also deposited a small offering.
On a day in which the official mourning decreed the day before by the City Council was prolonged, the silence and pain extended to all those closest to him. The most repeated phrase, as it was the first day, was “this can’t have happened to them“.
The end of their lives contrasts with the way they had lived up to now in Spain, where they arrived in 2018 from Russia.

Instead of heading in that direction, they went into hiding. Everything suggests that they left before their little brother, who would have been accompanied by their father to the educational center. Alexandra and Anastasia re-entered the house or else they would have remained hidden on the stairs.. The truth is that they reached the top floor, three above where they lived, at the height of the sixth floor, where the Police would later find their backpacks.
Around nine in the morning Alexandra and Anastasia jumped out of the window and died instantly.. His bodies were left lying in an interior pedestrian area that connects Facetos and Alejandro Casona streets. There he discovered a neighbor the corpses and immediately notified the police. Around 9:15 a.m., the events happened very quickly: the agents arrived in the area and the father, alerted to the situation, left the house screaming, completely out of his mind.
Personnel specialized in psychological assistance went to the scene of the events to help the parents, who would later be transferred to the HUCA. The bodies of the girls were sent to the forensic anatomical institute to carry out an autopsy and a family friend of the parents went to the school to pick up the brother of the twins, the ten-year-old son of Igor and Olga.
