After she also clearly missed the nomination for the upcoming Winter Games in Milan and Cortina, the 27-year-old has now announced that she is ending her career.
“Time to officially end my career,” Juliane Frühwirt captioned a post on social media on Tuesday in which she announced the end of her career as a professional biathlete.
“Those who know me know: I started the 2025/26 season with the goal of the Olympics. It wasn’t enough for that. I’ve always loved training and subordinating everything to sport. As you know, I’ve also been an entrepreneur since my accident, and what can I say – I didn’t expect this success from Jule’s Coaching. A success that I worked hard for. For me, the last 9 months have been absolutely at the limit. That’s why “The decision to say ‘enough’ in the middle of the season felt easy and consistent,” says Frühwirt, explaining her decision.
Serious accident slows down Frühwirt violently
In March 2024, the German fell while warming up for a cross-country sprint race and hit herself in the face with a stick so badly that it pierced her upper jaw through her left cheek. In addition, a piece of the tongue was missing and the jaw joints were dislocated. A long and difficult fight followed, which now ends.
Under the brand “Jule’s Coaching” Frühwirt offers “ambitious amateur athletes or demanding hobby athletes” support in achieving their goals. An undertaking that is now likely to come to the fore.
Although she didn’t achieve everything she would have wanted in biathlon, she is still proud because she was never “blessed with the greatest talent” and worked hard for everything, concludes Frühwirt, before thanking everyone who has accompanied her path.
