At the same time, those responsible must be held accountable. Where necessary, the Netherlands supports the criminal investigation carried out by the International Criminal Court (ICC) into war crimes and crimes against humanity in Ukraine.

“Every day we see the horror images of bombed-out houses, schools and hospitals. People are forced to leave everything behind and flee. The crimes committed against these people must not go unpunished.”

said Minister of Justice and Security Yeşilgöz-Zegerius.

Today Yeşilgöz-Zegerius spoke at an international conference on support for the ICC. The Netherlands has gained a lot of knowledge and expertise during the investigation in Ukraine after the downing of MH-17. Yeşilgöz-Zegerius has promised that Dutch experts from the Public Prosecution Service and the Police will share their knowledge and experience where possible. The Netherlands will also make a financial contribution to the investigations of the ISH. The Netherlands, together with EU President France and other Member States, supports the assistance and contribution that Eurojust provides to the ICC.
