The war in Ukraine is accelerating European defense cooperation. Member States want to cooperate more closely in the military field and to spend more money on the armed forces. NATO and the EU also need to work more closely together.

The ministers of the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg hope that their military cooperation “can serve as an example for more large-scale military cooperation within the EU.” The three countries have been working very closely together for decades.
