In addition to the Patriots, a NASAMS airfolding system and anti-drone systems also go to the logistics center of the NATO Security Assistance and Training for Ukraine (NSATU). The contribution runs from December 1 to June 1 and around 300 soldiers will come along.

“This commitment contributes to three important goals: Defending the NATO territory, discourage Russian aggression, and unabated support to Ukraine. This is how we keep the Russian threat as far as possible remotely,” says outgoing minister Ruben Brekelmans (Defense, VVD).

Where the patriots are stationed, Defense does not announce. NATO has a large junction for the help of Ukraine at the airport of Rzeszów in the east of Poland that is defended by a large number of patriot batteries.

It is the second time since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine that Patriots go to the east of NATO area. Shortly after the Russian raid, a Patriot battery with around 150 soldiers went to Slovakia.

From next month are also Dutch F-35s in Poland. They will protect the airspace above the east of Europe for three months.
