The Netherlands sends, among other things 2 Patriot-Air to Poland. The air defense systems and approximately 300 soldiers secure from December 1 to June 1 next year the logistics center of the Nato Security Assistance and Training for Ukraine (Nsatu). This provides support to Ukraine. Minister Ruben Brekelmans announces the Dutch contribution today.

It is an integrated unit of 3 different capacities. In addition to both patriots, it is a Nasams anti-aircraft system and anti-drone systems. With this, the Netherlands, together with partners, supplies layered air defense against any threats of ballistic rockets, cross flight weapons, fighter jets, helicopters and drones.

Brekelmans: “Defense delivers advanced capacities. They are scarce, but the Netherlands is able to offer them. This commitment contributes to 3 important goals: Defending NATO territory, discouraging Russian aggression and providing support to Ukraine. This way we keep the Russian threat as far as possible.”

NSATU coordinates and facilitates the training of Ukrainian soldiers and provides military support to the country. The military equipment destined by NATO countries to Ukraine must be safely reached. The air defense enables NSATU to safely carry out these logistics activities.

Deployment F-35s

Earlier, the Netherlands promised the deployment of F-35 combat aircraft above Poland. Together with Norwegian colleagues, they monitor the NATO air space from 1 September to 1 December. The deployment is also intended to scare Russia and to protect military equipment that will be protected by Ukraine.
