The Netherlands gives Benin Bronze back to Nigeria: “Restoring a historical injustice”

The Netherlands gives back the so -called Benin Bronzen to Nigeria. It concerns 119 art objects that were stolen by England in 1897 from the then Kingdom of Benin in western Africa. Most works of art are currently in the Wereldmuseum in Leiden, where the official handover also takes place. Six of the objects are from the municipality of Rotterdam.
