Ukraine will not attack the civilian population in Donbass, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov said at a briefing.

“There is an attempt to provoke our troops into those actions in which they are interested. Troops can open fire only if there is a threat to the lives of our military,” Danilov emphasized, adding that he could not say exactly what provocateurs would do: blow up buses that would be evacuated, or “do some other things.”

“There are no options that these territories can be liberated by military means,” he assured.

Danilov said that he, along with the deputies of the Verkhovna Rada, would go to the front line on Saturday by order of President Volodymyr Zelensky.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine urged the residents of Donbass “not to believe lies” about the offensive of Kiev
