The municipality of Coevorden wants to transfer shares of the fiber optic network to Rendo

The municipality of Coevorden wants to transfer its 40 percent shares in the company Glasvezel Zuidenveld BV to grid manager Rendo. The proposal is on the agenda of the committee meeting on Tuesday.

Thanks to the efforts of residents and the Glasvezel Zuidenveld foundation, fiber optic is available in all villages and the outlying area in the municipality of Coevorden. According to the municipality, it has recently become apparent that the number of subscribers is not growing sufficiently, especially in the villages themselves. One of the reasons is that residents cannot opt for the larger and more well-known providers.

The municipality expects that the transfer of the shares to Rendo will increase the possibilities for the network. The hope is that more providers will join the network. The municipality is still discussing the conditions under which the shares will be transferred and the best way to do this.

The Zuidenveld Fiberglass Foundation is also considering transferring its 20 percent shares to Rendo.
