American hedge fund manager Kenneth C. Griffin paid $44.6 million, an absolute record amount, for ‘Apex’, a skeleton of a stegosaurus. It is the largest and most complete stegosaurus ever unearthed; Paleontologist Jason Cooper found no fewer than 254 of the 319 bones in Colorado soil. ‘Apex’ is now on loan from Griffin to the American Museum of Natural History, where the skeleton will be on display to the general public for three to four years.
