An organized crime group planned to assassinate Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, Serbian Interior Minister Aleksandar Vulin said. reported on the website of the ministry.

According to the minister, the Serbian police received information about the plans of the organized crime group from one of the EU countries on January 14 through Europol. The group is associated with one of the leaders of the “Kavach drug clan” Radoe Zvitser, a citizen of Montenegro. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, he is involved in drug trafficking and contract killings committed in Serbia, Montenegro and other countries. A warrant has already been issued for his arrest.

“Whether Radoje Zvitser organized this criminal organization to assassinate President Vučić at his own discretion, or whether he received an order from his political leader remains to be established by the investigation,” Vulin said.
