The medal was up for grabs – Silja Kososta took it on the head

The level of the women’s moukari final was exceptionally soft.

– I am satisfied that I made it to the broken laps. Better than in qualifying. One goal was to improve from the World Championships and it became two places. But it’s a bit annoying when I know I can throw further.

Silja Kosonen summed up his speech aptly in the European Championship final in Munich. Number five is good, but the result 69.45 is not very good.

– Really left a toothache. Quite strange when I was Fifth with 69 meters. I thought that the 74-meter would have been required to win. Now the gold was won with the stoppage.

The women’s moukari race was really quiet, with a result of 72.72 (Bianca Ghelber, Romania) was enough for gold. In the three previous European Championships, it would not have been able to win even bronze.

Polish Ewa Różańska got silver with his record (72.12). An Italian pre-favourite Sara Fantini softened to bronze (71.58).

Kosonen’s record is last year’s 74.43, this season’s best 72.22 and the average for the 2022 season before Wednesday 70.03 meters.

For example, Kosonen’s result of 72.15 in Eugene’s World Cup qualifying competition would have been a silver bullet on Wednesday.

– Small technical errors came into the performance, and I couldn’t let myself go. At the beginning, you should get a little bit of the expected, brought moukari more calmly and then accelerate to the end. That didn’t happen now, Kosonen said.

A great competitor

Kosonen is a great competitor. Last season there was European and World Championship gold in the juniors, as well as a salon-worthy fourteenth place at the Tokyo Olympics (70.49).

– I’m not terribly excited about the games. I enjoy doing it and I’m really competitive. As a child, for example, the races were always on, when even running from the store to the car, he found out the background of his certainty.

– I have competed incredibly. There is so much routine. I can throw, and I’m not starting to doubt myself, the pitcher continued.

The Turku resident complained about his left knee after Tuesday’s qualifying competition.

– There is nothing bigger about it. Didn’t seem anywhere on Wednesday. Sometimes there is a little soreness. For many years there has been a small problem there, but I haven’t talked about it since it doesn’t require any surgery.

The medal went

Krista Tervon the goal was an EC medal.

– It’s sad when a technical error ate up the meters. It was very basic, and didn’t get the final spikes off. Of course, I’m happy when eighth place is the best performance in adult competitions. I believe that this is the start of something, that we will move up the ranks, Tervo said.

The result of 67.85 is the second worst of the season. It was tamer only in Tuesday’s qualifying, when the leka flew five centimeters less.

– Doing it yourself was a problem. There was nothing to do in the ring. Just couldn’t get the technology right.

Tervo scored 73.83 three weeks ago in the World Cup qualifier in Eugene. My own record of 74.40 came from the beginning of the season.

– The medal measurements were by no means undone in Munich. Maybe the body feels a bit long season. It’s a shame that the technical problems have come to the end of the season. It doesn’t help to worry. On Wednesday, the chips were not enough for a medal.
