The man who hated Putin is dead: Gorbachev ended the Cold War, helped demolish the Wall and reformed his country

Mikhail Gorbachev, the Soviet leader who brought glasnost and perestroika to the world, has died aged 91. “Gorbi” ended the Cold War and helped demolish the Wall. He was popular in the West, and was reviled in his own country – including by Putin. The man with the conspicuous port-wine stain died after a protracted illness.
