The first edition of the event in Bavaria with all the best athletes of the specialty to bring the general public closer
After the Oktoberfest, the great popular festival that brings millions of tourists to the city every year, on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 October Munich (Germany) will host a major sporting event, the first edition of “Loop One Festival”, destined to become a classic of the seasonal biathlon calendar. An event that goes beyond sport will be staged at the Olympic Park in the Bavarian capital: a real festival with live music, DJ sets, street food, and family activities, including the possibility of trying the discipline. The response from the public was enthusiastic: for Sunday, the day on which the big names of the World Cup will compete, all of the over nine thousand grandstand tickets have already been sold. But that’s not all: just as many people are also expected on the slopes and in the other areas of the festival, where entry will be free on both days.
objective
—
The objective of the IBU (International Biathlon Union) is to bring biathlon to the heart of big cities, bringing it closer to young people and families, and offering many enthusiasts the opportunity to see the champions of the discipline live, a month and a half before the start of the World Cup, scheduled for Östersund (Sweden) on November 29th. Even if the races will not yet be held on snow – but on asphalt, with the use of roller skis, the roller skis used by athletes to train during the summer – the Loop One Festival represents a first taste of the new season. For this reason, all the teams have chosen to field their own big players. Italy will be represented by three women and four men: Dorothea Wierer (not at her best, her presence is in doubt), Lisa Vittozzi, Michela Carrara, Tommaso Giacomel, Lukas Hofer, Didier Bionaz and Daniele Cappellari.

The athletes will compete on a 1.8 km circuit, with an evocative shooting range set up on the lake, in a spectacular race format: the super sprint. The qualifying heats will be held in the morning, while the finals will be held in the afternoon with the best 15 athletes: at 3.30pm for the men and at 4.15pm for the women. The races will be visible, with commentary in Italian, on Eurovisionsport
