Françoise Desguin, wife of Minister of State Herman De Croo (88) and mother of former Prime Minister Alexander De Croo (50) and his sister Ariane (47), died in hospital on Saturday. She was 86. The loss of the mater familias of the De Croo family – who continued to work as a lawyer even after her retirement – will be immensely difficult, especially for her husband. “If I have to leave home for a few days, Herman is lost and also unhappy, because he really can’t get his plan together,” Françoise Desguin testified in HLN four years ago.
