The Libertines: You can experience them live again at Tempelhof Sounds in 2022

What is there to say about the Libertines? One thing above all: In the past 20 years of their career they have lived up to their band name. As self-proclaimed free spirits, they took pretty much all the liberties rock’n’roll has to offer. “Their early days in garage rock have given way to something that can undoubtedly be described as an extract of their musical identity – rock in the best The Libertines way, which sounds more sophisticated and yet has retained its unconventional character,” say the organizers of the Tempelhof Soundswho were able to add a special highlight to the line-up with the Londoners.

For a long time there was no thought of The Libertines returning to the stage. Because both professionally and privately, the band went through some lows and almost lost contact with each other. Nevertheless, they found each other again through their music. The unmistakable voice of Pete Doherty will ensure that her songs develop a unique pull in 2022 as well. Their sound shows that anthemic Britpop and scratchy punk aren’t as far apart as one might think.

Tempelhof Sounds makes indie fans happy

In addition to The Libertines, Tempelhof Sounds also has The Strokes, Two Door Cinema Club, Florence + The Machine, Muse, Alt-J, Maximo Park, Interpol, Johnossi and numerous other well-known music greats. From June 10th to 12th, 2022, the former airport site at Tempelhofer Feld in Berlin will become a dance floor for thousands of indie and alternative rock fans. Tickets for the festival weekend are available here.
