The Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahuhas stated this Saturday, International Day of Holocaust Victims, that the way in which the “false” complaint of genocide against Israel has been developed before the international Court of Justice (ICJ) shows that “the lessons of the Holocaust have not been learned.”
The Israeli leader has stated that he feels “shocked” by the fact that South Africa has accused Isarel of genocide and has stressed that it is Hamas that wants the genocide of Israel and the Jews. South Africa has gone to The Hague “in the name of Hamas,” he said, according to the newspaper ‘The Times of Israel’.
The International Court of Justice should have summarily dismissed the genocide charges. “The court’s willingness” to even hear this “ridiculous” case “demonstrates that there are many in the world who have learned nothing from the Holocaust.” In any case, he stressed that the ICJ has not ordered a ceasefire.
“But we have learned (…). The main lesson of the Holocaust is that only we can defend ourselves. No one will do it for us,” he indicated. Thus, Israel must be “strong and determined” and “fight back.”
Netanyahu has appeared with a copy of the book ‘My Struggle’ or ‘Mein Kampf’ by Adolf Hitler in Arabic that was found by the Israeli military in the Gaza Strip. This is how “the new Nazis” raise their children, he has argued.
“The Jewish State rose from the ashes of the Holocaust to guarantee the defensive power of the Jewish people. No one will take that right away from us”, he highlighted. For this reason, “there is no more just war” than the current one and “a more moral army” than the Israeli Armed Forces.
Netanyahu has also taken the opportunity to pay tribute to the soldiers who fell in the last week in the offensive on the Gaza Strip and has reiterated that all the objectives in their honor will be achieved: destroy Hamas, bring back all the hostages and ensure that Gaza is no longer a threat to Israel. “There is no alternative to total victory,” he stressed.

For Netanyahu, Israel has been forced to go to war by an enemy that openly declares that it wants to destroy all Jews. “If they could have, they would have killed us all” on October 7, he noted. Therefore, if Hamas is not destroyed, “the next massacre is just a matter of time.”
