Muhammad Ali was still seen in the prestigious competitions. The 22-year-old runner of Espoo’s Tapioen has heard of his great name before.
– I have heard about it many times and heard jokes, he said.
– It’s fun. It hasn’t been annoying at all.
Neither Muhammad nor Ali are uncommon names. According to the runner, there is no story behind the name, for example, about the great boxing fanaticism of the parents.
– I don’t think my parents know about the famous Muhammad Ali.
Ali competed in the SM halls in the 1,500 meter B category. He clocked a time of 4:09.06 on the way.
It was the first competition of Ali’s reign.
– Now it didn’t quite work out, I underperformed. There have been problems with the knee, but nothing more serious, luckily.
Ali is a middle distance runner. In recent years, he has competed not only in 1,500 meters but also in 800, 1,000 and 3,000 meters.
– 1,500 meters and 3,000 meters are my main distances. Now I’m going to the Kaleva Games. I would like national success there, the runner said.
Boxing legend Muhammad Ali won no less than 56 matches in his career and lost only five times. He died in 2016.
