Real Madrid plays two games within 66 hours. Trainer Carlo Ancelotti is evident – the “royal” escalate to deal with the Spanish league.
Real Madrid is in the dispute over the densely clocked schedule and the burden for professional footballers full of confrontation course with the Spanish football league. The club threatens not to play in the future if a certain rest period is not complied with.
“It was the last time we will play a game without a 72-hour break,” said coach Carlo Ancelotti after his team’s 2-1 win at FC Villarreal on Saturday evening.
Real had previously announced about the club’s own broadcaster to ask the FIFA World Federation Association for support. According to Real, FIFA recommends a rest period of 72 hours between two games. In fact, there were only around 66 hours between the end of the extended Champions League game with penalty shooting against Atlético Madrid on Wednesday evening and the kick-off of the league game against Villarreal.
As the Spanish sports newspaper “Marca” reports, the Spanish association Real’s presentation rejected. Ancelotti said the club asked twice to postpone the kick -off time – but this was rejected. According to the newspaper, Real Madrid has not raised any objections since the game plan was published on February 25.
In addition, the 72-hour period is only a recommendation and not an obligation. Nevertheless, the league basically prescribes at least two full rest days between the games – and this requirement was observed.
