The Drenthe 1000 has now arrived at the real hits of the hit list. Just a little patience and then we will know which song is Drenthe’s absolute favorite this year.

Radio Drenthe’s end-of-year list kicked off last Tuesday. Tonight, just before 6 p.m., the number one from the list of a thousand songs will blast into the living rooms. For those who can’t wait for the first snippets of the top ten, twenty or thirty, we will already reveal a few things.

If you listen to the songs in the top hundred today, you will undoubtedly have noticed: the region is excellently represented. Between a song like Nothing Else Matters of Metallica and Dancing Queen For example, there is the sing-along song by Abba Eleonora from Jannes. No less than 70 percent of the music in the top hundred is regional.

We also often see Hannah Mae from Weerdinge – how could it be otherwise in the year of her big breakthrough – in the Drenthe 1000. She is well represented in the hit list with ten songs. Last year there were ‘only’ five. We already reveal that she is the highest new entrant this year at thirteenth place. With which number? You will hear that this afternoon on Radio Drenthe.

“It really is a tradition,” says presenter René Steenbergen about the Drenthe 1000, which is being played for the fourth time this year and can therefore celebrate its lustrum in 2025. “The atmosphere is just the same as the last few times. We see that the listening figures are through the roof and people are even listening en masse abroad.”
