Los Angeles Lakers announced this Tuesday that they have incorporated DJ Augustin and Wenyen Gabriel and that, to make room for them, they have dispensed with the services of DeAndre Jordan and Sekou Doumbouya. Of this movement that involves four players, the departure of DeAndre Jordan stands out, who came to the Angelenos this summer to reinforce his inside game but who has hardly had a place in Frank Vogel’s rotation. NBA rumors place the Philadelphia 76ers as possible interested in taking over the veteran center now.

Augustin, who lands in Los Angeles (USA) to shore up the team’s outside game, has played in 34 games this season with the Houston Rockets in which he has averaged 5.4 points, 1.2 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 15 minutes per match. For his part, Gabriel has played 7 games this season between the Los Angeles Clippers and the Brooklyn Nets in which he managed 2 points and 2.1 rebounds in 6.7 minutes on average. The young center will split his time between the purple and gold and the South Bay Lakers, the G League team linked to the Lakers. That double role in the NBA and the G League has been fulfilled until now by Sekou Doumbouya, who will no longer be part of the Lakers project.

The Los Angeles franchise is having a very disappointing season and, going into Tuesday’s session, was ninth in the West (27-33). Russell Westbrook, Carmelo Anthony and Dwight Howard arrived in Los Angeles this season to reinforce LeBron James and Anthony Davis, but this veteran and very risky project is far from the great ring contenders for now.
