The Kremlin confirmed the holding of the Victory Parade on May 9

The parade in honor of the 77th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War will be held on May 9 on Red Square, informed Kremlin press service on the site. The dress rehearsal will take place on May 7th.

The issue of the parade was raised at a briefing by Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov on April 6. “I have never heard of these arguments. [о неуместности парада в условиях военной операции на Украине]. I’ll leave it unanswered. And I don’t think that an answer is required here, ”Peskov answered the corresponding question, RBC correspondent reported.

The Kremlin promised to celebrate May 9 “as always”

The day before, a Kremlin spokesman said that Russia would celebrate Victory Day as usual. He did not answer the question whether the military of the DPR and LPR, as well as employees of the Russian Armed Forces who are involved in the military operation in Ukraine, will take part in the parade.

In 2021, Victory Day has become the most important holiday for Russians, according to a SuperJob survey. The Victory Parade was positively assessed by 95% of respondents, the New Year was approved by 94% of respondents, and the birthday was approved by 92%. The celebration of the Day of Russia and the Day of National Unity was supported by 81% and 75%, respectively.
