Having exhausted the 4 flights of day 1, the ISOP will welcome back today all the players remaining in the running. For the definitive numbers, however, we have to wait until the end of the third level of the day. Sottini is the chip leader, while Fausto Oioli is also in good shape and closed last night with 250 thousand chips. Titles have already been awarded in 3 side events
On the third floor of the Campione Casino, the PokeStars Live Room is once again filled with the survivors of the Italian Series of Poker main event. Everything is ready for day 2 of the ISOP main event and up there at the top of the chipcount, the leader already has a stack of half a million
DAY2 MAIN EVENT ISOP: WAITING FOR THE NUMBERS
—
Yesterday the “round” of day 1 was completed with the afternoon and evening sessions. Fausto Oioli took command of operations on day 1C closing at 250,000. The flight which began shortly after lunch saw the top 5 in the rankings all attacked. December is the second stage of the Italian Series of Poker, a circuit which will elect the Italian Champion in June 2026 and which will reward the best teams with a package for the WSOP in Las Vegas. There is obviously still a long way to go and the general classification is obviously subject to very strong fluctuations. A month ago it was the German Raz who prevailed. The defending champion of the first stage did not emerge as Champion for stage 2. However, registration for the Main Event is still open for the first three levels of day 2. Once the cash registers are closed, we will know the official numbers. The ISOP debut in Campione attracted just under 900 players to the main event
SOTTINI DOMINATES. GERACE TAKES OMAHA
—
Today we are back “all reunited” under the same roof: day 1A was the most populated and it is from there that today’s absolute chipleader emerged, namely Micheal Sottini who presents himself at the starting line of the second day with over half a million chips! However, there are still many protagonists in the game, 171 to be precise which, as mentioned, should increase given the late reg of today. In the meantime, however, three side events have already concluded paintings delivered to the winners. In fact, all ISOP trophies are certified and can be hung at home, no cups or plates. In the Omaha tournament Agazio Gerace prevailed, protagonist of a truly crazy hand won against Paolo Compagno. On a T flop♠ 4♦ 5♥ both players found trips. Set over set is quite common when playing with 4 hole cards. Gerace and Compagno end up in the cards with the former showing pocket tens, the latter “only” pocket 5s. The turn is incredible: a 5♥ gives poker to Paolo but the goddess of luck is not limited to the turn. The river is a T♥ which brings Agazio forward again. Poker against poker, mono-out against mono-out! In the “Mixed” tournament, first place goes to Fabio Bianche, while late at night Marcello Cianni poses with his son, who came to cheer for his father after winning Saturday Night
