The two cousins released a track and music video together on YouTube on May 30th
Without notice, cousins Kendrick Lamar and Baby Keem released their new track “The Hillbillies” and music video on Tuesday (May 30) on YouTube. So far, the song is still exclusive to the video platform, but it is unclear whether it will even appear on the streaming platforms.

In the track, the “rangebrothers‘ again and again as Messi and Neymar. Just like the two soccer stars, Keem and Kendrick have intertwined careers. And so, like their sporting role models on “The Hillbillies”, they pass balls to each other and convince with their incomparable techniques. The fun the two must have had while recording the song is quickly apparent upon listening. In particular, Kendrick, who usually takes a more serious tone, seemed happy to get involved with his little cousin’s silliness for the single.
The cousins fully exploit the potential of the unconventional beats that EVILGIANE produced. A sample of Bon Ivers song “PDLIF” and untypical drum sounds. They glide over the beat with a smooth mix of vocals and rap. We’ve known that the rappers have a very special chemistry since Baby Keem’s album THE MELODIC BLUE (2021), on which “K.Dot” appears twice. On “The Hillbillies” they once again impressively demonstrate what an unbeatable duo they are – just like Messi and Neymar.
The music video features Kendrick Lamar and Baby Keem in retro style and engaging in a variety of activities. They’re playing PlayStation, flying in a private jet, or strolling through a mall. With Tyler, the Creator there is even a surprise guest who appears again and again in the video.
What new project “The Hillbillies” will end up on is unknown. There have been rumors about a new Baby Keem EP for a long time, but nothing concrete has been announced yet.
