‘The head’ at Borger is kept nice and warm: Image along the N34 covered with silk

Who covered the statue along the N34 in Borger with a tarpaulin? That is what the municipality of Borger-Odoorn would like to know.

The image Head of the Hondsrug by artist Willem Kind is covered with an orange tarpaulin over the head and is secured with straps. It is not known who did this. “The image is of the municipality,” says mayor Jan Seton. “Other than that we don’t know, we’re looking into that now. We can think of a playful action.”

The municipality will now first check whether it is safe. “We’re going to see if it’s properly secured. Because it’s close to the N34.”

The image stands out well along the road and is often used for playful actions. For example, at the start of the corona crisis, the statue wore a face mask for a while.
