A ceasefire is officially in effect in Gaza, hopefully the beginning of the final end to the war that has turned half the world upside down. The Israeli cabinet agreed on Thursday night, despite opposition from a number of far-right ministers, to the first phase of the agreement, which should lead to the release of all 48 hostages in exchange for almost 2,000 Palestinian prisoners.
