Handball superstar Eduard Koksharov has died at the age of 50, International Handball Federation IHF report.

The Russian Koksharov was one of the most successful players of his time. He won the world championship in 1997, the Olympic gold in 2000 and the Champions League in 2004.

The dangerous winger played 226 matches for the Russian national team and scored 1,110 goals.

After his playing career, Kokšarov became a coach and won two Belarusian championships and the SEHA league championship at the helm of HC Meškov Brest.

News agency TASS according to Koksharov died in the Brest training camp. He didn’t show up for breakfast, so they went looking for him in his room. When the door was opened, the man was lying dead.
