What Really Forms a Family? Japanese director Kore-eda has no doubts: it is not the blood bond but the generosity and willingness to love because the strength of the affections can overcome every obstacle, even the preconceptions of common morality, even going so far as to question the concepts of good and evil, of justice and transgression.
He had already told it in Family businesshe reiterates in this film, set in Korea, where it seems that the market for babies abandoned by mothers is very flourishing.
Hirokazu Kore-eda’s chosen family in “The Good Stars”.
This time though the young woman who left her baby seems to want to retrace his steps and joins the two volunteers from the shelter who, instead of taking the baby to the orphanage, want to sell it to a childless couple. Without knowing that on their trail there are two policewomen determined to arrest them in the act and the henchmen of a crime boss, who is also interested in the baby.
Of course, not everything goes as expected and those who at first might seem like a “bad guy” also end up revealing his soul as a “good one”offering the director the opportunity to give us once again his inimitable lightness of touch and the ability to stage emotions.
For those who want to smile about the dramas of life.
