The Colorado Avalanche has unloaded Saku Mäenalanen of the try out contract. The journalist of The Athletic told about it Peter Baugh messaging service in X (formerly Twitter).

– Mäenalanen did not pass the fitness test, so his try out contract was cancelled, Baugh informs.

The 29-year-old Finnish forward signed a test contract with Colorado this month, but the man didn’t have time to show his skills even at the training camp.

Baugh did not reveal whether Mäenalanen was injured or whether the man simply did not pass the Colorado fitness test.

Mäenalanen played 64 games in the Winnipeg Jets last season with 4+6=10. The balance of the five playoff matches was 0+1.

Mäenalanen, who are comfortable in the striker’s field, have won both World Championship gold and Olympic gold in Leijon. In addition, the man’s trophy cabinet includes, among other things, the World Youth Championship gold and three Finnish championships from Kärpi.
