The Vegas Golden Knights have signed a two-year contract with the goalkeeper by Carter Hart with. Hart Earns four million dollars with his contract.
The 27-year-old Hart received a tryout contract from the Vegas team earlier this month. Hart hasn’t played a game since January 2024. Hart, who was representing the Philadelphia Flyers at the time, was sidelined from hockey when he was named as one of the suspects in the sex crime scandal that rocked Canada.
Hart and four other players were accused of gang rape. The act allegedly took place in 2018 during Canada’s World Junior Championship victory celebration.
The case was discussed for a long time in the Canadian judiciary. In July, the court ended up acquitting the players of the charges. According to the court, the message exchange and videos between the players and the woman gave no reason to suspect that the woman was forced to do the act or that she was not legally competent due to the alleged state of fear.
After the acquittal, the players were granted permission to return to the NHL. Hart is the first of the bunch to get a contract with a hockey league.
Before the uproar, Hart managed to play 227 games in the NHL.
