A DFB Cup final that does not take place in the Berlin Olympic Stadium is unthinkable for many fans. The future of the final in the capital has not yet been clarified.

It is still unclear what will happen next with the DFB Cup final in Berlin’s Olympic Stadium. At the request of the dpa news agency, the DFB and the Senate Department for the Interior and Sport confirmed that negotiations were ongoing. Senator Iris Spranger (SPD) is in good spirits: “I am very confident that we will conclude the negotiations this year.” The DFB also spoke of continued constructive discussions. Neither side provided any information about the content.

The final has been held annually in the Olympic Stadium since 1985. “Sport Bild” recently reported that there was no new rental agreement for the coming years. Accordingly, the DFB is demanding that the city, as the operator of the stadium, improve admission for security reasons.

After the last final, many Arminia Bielefeld fans complained about chaotic scenes in front of the south and marathon gates of the stadium. The DFB and Senate announced a review. However, renovations to the stadium are difficult due to monument protection. The 2026 final is scheduled for May 23rd.
