Timo Meier did not know what Switzerland could have done differently in the decisive moments.
Striker Timo Meier once again had to experience the worst possible situation. Like several Swiss, he joined the club with three World Cup silver medals.
Switzerland still didn’t manage to win the world championship. Meier experienced a 0–1 defeat in the World Cup final a year ago. The same thing happened now, when Konsta Helenius won the world championship for Finland.
– We knew that this final would be really fierce. Maybe we weren’t able to play at our best level for the whole 60 minutes. Should have scored, but the puck didn’t bounce for us. Those bounces should be turned into an advantage, Meier said disappointedly.
The 60-minute thriller offered places for both. Meier was again involved in many things, when he was even able to acquire an ice machine for Finland. After the quarter-finals, Meier was suspended and at the same time the fury of Sweden on his neck, when he tackled Tre Kronor with his knee Oskar Sundqvist.
At the beginning of the extension Jesse Puljujärvi hit the post. Soon after, Switzerland rattled the top bar.

In a time of 70.42, Helenius decided.
– We wanted to be patient and attack. It was one shot and… it’s from deep. It’s hard to say what we could have done differently, Meier lamented, searching for words.
Do you have an opinion on the championship being decided by 3-on-3?
– No.
The goalkeeper also vented his disappointment to the media Leonardo Genoni.
– Losing in front of the home crowd is a tough place.
– These weeks were incredibly great otherwise. The team is full of great players and also people.
