The former SM league star moves to the KHL

Borna Rendulic, once admired in the SM League, will join the ranks of HK Sochi, who plays in the KHL, for the next season, the club says on its Instagram account.

Rendulic, 31, has signed a contract with the club for the upcoming season.

In the season that ended, Rendulic represented Adler Mannheim of the German DEL series, where he scored 17+24=41 power points in 56 regular season matches.

The Croatian striker last played in the KHL in the 2017–2019 seasons in the ranks of Vitjaz.

The talented striker is well remembered from the SM league, where he represented Pori Ässi, Hämeenlinna Pallokerho and Lahti Pelicans.

Rendulic especially impressed in the shirt of HPK in the 2013–2014 season, when he scored 11+21=32 power points in 57 regular season matches. From there, he moved to the Colorado Avalanche organization and played 15 NHL games for the Avalanche and the Vancouver Canucks over the course of two seasons.

In his career, after his visit to the NHL, Rendulic has played in the KHL, the SM league and the DEL series in addition to one season in the Swedish main league.

This spring, he was the captain of the Croatian national team in the 2nd division World Championships.

In addition to Rendulic, KalPaak’s representative will play in HK Sochi next season Jesse Graham and Michal Krištof, known especially from Kärpi.
