No vacation
All flowers are selected by the grower for sale, where quality is of paramount importance. “When we go to the grower, it feels like a holiday.”
And that’s a good thing, because the couple hasn’t been on holiday in over 40 years. “Everything is alive, so it must be taken care of,” says De Vries. Annemiek has thought about a successor, but according to the florist, one was not easily found. “The youth no longer want that, they want to have free time.”
De Vries is not thinking about quitting anytime soon. “I enjoy everything. The customers and the beautiful flowers,” she says, holding up a lily. “Look then, how beautiful.”
