The first additional US military forces arrived in Poland, which Washington deployed due to the growing tension in the situation around Ukraine. About it informs Polish government agency PAP.
Polish Minister of Defense Mariusz Blaszczak on the eve of February 4, announced about the arrival in the republic of preparatory forces for the deployment of the US military, after which the main contingent of the 82nd Airborne Division will be expected to land from Fort Bragg. The main force arrived on Saturday, February 5, at the Jasionka airport near Rzeszow in the southeast of the country, PAP reports.
“We are ready to accept allied support <...> cooperation [США и Польши] is progressing very well,” said the representative of the 18th mechanized division, Przemysław Lipczynski.
Lipczynski noted that the 82nd division, which arrived in Poland, is an elite unit, whose military personnel can begin to perform tasks around the world within a few hours after the announcement of the alarm. In total, about 1.7 thousand military personnel are to arrive in Poland from the United States. According to him, the Polish military cooperated with the US 82nd Division more than once, including in Iraq, Afghanistan, and during the Dragon and Anaconda exercises.
