the first children’s fashion collection by elephants

The Essen-based children’s shoe brand Elefanten is expanding its range and will be offering its first clothing collection for children between the ages of one and six in the 2022 spring/summer season.

The brand focuses on sustainability, as most of the items are made from GOTS-certified or OTC-licensed organic cotton and environmentally friendly viscose fibers that are biodegradable and reduce emissions and water pollution by 50 percent.

In addition, no harmful chemicals were used in the finishing of denim fabrics and water consumption was reduced. The sewing thread used is also recycled and the packaging comes from responsible sources.

Overall, the first Elefanten textile collection includes 87 styles in sizes 86 to 128 in various patterns and colors that correspond to traditional gender stereotypes: “For the girls, cheerful summer colors such as pink, rose and purple dominate, which can be found on dresses with floral patterns, overalls with little hearts and Find pajama sets, baby bodysuits and leggings sets,” says a press release from Elefanten.

Unfortunately, this leaves boys with only “more classic styles” such as shorts in blue and brown with matching t-shirts and denim dungarees. It’s a shame that the brand didn’t extend its pioneering role in children’s shoes to its first clothing collection.

Bathing suits and swimming trunks as well as baby rompers in sizes 86-104 round off the collection, which will be available from mid-March 2022 in the brand’s online shop or from Deichmann. The prices are between 12.99 euros and 39.99 euros.
