The Finnish company was already warned years ago – Now a big fine has arrived

According to the Data Protection Commissioner, the company’s violations are intentional and large-scale. The Office of the Data Protection Commissioner has ordered Suomen Yritysrekisteri oy, which markets business directories, to pay a fine of 23,000 euros, because the company had not delivered call recordings to the persons who requested them in accordance with data protection legislation. In addition, the company had not complied with the deputy data protection commissioner’s previous order to correct the operation to comply with the law. During the years 2019–2022, several complaints were made about the operations of the Finnish Business Register, in which private entrepreneurs said they received an invoice from the company after a sales call. The traders had asked the company for a recording of the call, but only some of them had received a written summary of the call, which also did not correspond to the content of the sales call.
