8:02 p.m. – Today’s rules: The final is played over a maximum of 13 sets. This means that one of the two finalists must win seven sets to secure the title. Littler or van Gerwen secure a set by winning three legs.
7:53 p.m. – “Mighty Mike” already won the world title in 2014, 2017 and 2019. This means he has won the most PDC world titles after darts legend Phil Taylor (14 wins). For Littler, tonight’s triumph would be his first success in a World Cup final. He would also be the youngest world champion of all time.
7:41 p.m. – 2024 was less successful for van Gerwen, who is currently not the reigning champion of a major tournament. At this year’s World Cup he came up trumps again, impressing with a strong performance in each of his appearances. The reason: “Because I have balls of steel,” said van Gerwen after his semi-final victory over Chris Dobey.
