Jens Lehmann keeps appearing in the headlines. It’s also about trouble with the judiciary.
Jens Lehmann’s review of 2024 will probably be a bit cautious. The former national goalkeeper has had a very turbulent twelve months, which now ends with him selling his villa on Lake Starnberg in Bavaria (read more about this here). A villa that leaves nothing to be desired.
The focus of Lehmann’s year was undoubtedly the “chainsaw trial”, which came to an end in September at the Munich II Regional Court. Lehmann accepted the verdict for damage to property and attempted fraud and his fine of 135,000 euros – significantly less than the original 420,000 euros imposed by the Starnberg district court a year earlier.
The case began in the summer of 2022 when Lehmann used a chainsaw to cut through a roof beam on his neighbor’s garage to remove an obstruction to visibility.
In 2024, Jens Lehmann also made more headlines with a drunken drive. Following a visit to Oktoberfest, the 2006 World Cup hero lost his driver’s license.
Lehmann later said on Welt-TV: “The truth was that I made a mistake because I thought I could drive. That wasn’t the case. I had 0.7 per mille.” And further: “It really wasn’t a good thing on my part. I regret that too, but I misjudged myself.” In the end, Lehmann was given a four-week driving ban.
