In connection with the 45th anniversary of the termination of the train hijacking at the Punt on 11 June 1977, traffic and parking nuisance is expected in Bovensmilde on Saturday afternoon 11 June. The procession departs from Bovensmilde and eventually ends at the cemetery of the Boskamp in Assen.
The organization has taken measures to limit this nuisance as much as possible and is deploying traffic and parking controllers. Parking zones have also been determined. These are only used when there is no more space in the Moluccan district.
Nuisance
The peak of the possible nuisance is expected to be between 14:00 and 18:00. At around 4:15 pm a procession is formed in the Schoolstraat, which at 4:30 pm travels via Witten and the Europaweg to the Boskamp cemetery in Assen. In order to allow this procession to drive unhindered, so-called “blockers” are used at the side streets of Schoolstraat.
In order to ensure good traffic regulation and safety in the Moluccan district, Magnoliastraat on the Moluccan side is only used for outgoing traffic and is not accessible from Schoolstraat between 11:30 and 22:00. To drive into the Moluccan district, the Seringenstraat and Esdoornlaan are used.
