An explosion on a military ship and 41 British sailors who lose their lives. During an international crisis, with relations and balances between the Western world and Middle Eastern countries that seem to waver, the life of Kate Wyler (Keri Russell), a diplomat destined for Afghanistan, suddenly changes: she is in fact appointed ambassador of the United States to the United Kingdom, a country affected and willing to do anything to find the culprits.

The Diplomat is a series halfway between a spy-thriller and a political drama; but above all it is the story of a woman, of her anxieties, of a career that takes unexpected turns, even passing in front of that of her husband Hal (Rufus Sewell), also an appreciated diplomat, precipitating a relationship already in crisis and complicated .

The Diplomat tries to revive the canons of political drama and sometimes succeedswithout of course reaching the heights of West Wing or House of Cards.

That of Kate, her husband and all the characters who populate the political theater in which the events develop is a mask that little by little conceals; repartee and twists try to give rhythm to the story.

For those who love political dramas, litmus papers of complex and fragile personalities.
